With every passing day , while we all are trying to keep a straight face and be motivated and focused on the new day , this period of the quarantine is shaping up to be quite a challenge. Every single soul I speak to is yearning for regular routine , to step out , travel , socialize , meet people , engage and find life back . But the truth of the matter is that things are no where near normal & despite everything , the human soul has to survive . During these testing times , the Hungry Boy is one of my means to happiness and as i write this , i truly hope , dear reader , that you too , have re- kindled your hobby . Just remember that when life brings you down , hobbies are what bring you up !
Today is life -the only life you are sure of. Make the most of today. Get interested in something. Shake yourself awake. Develop a hobby. Let the winds of enthusiasm sweep through you. Live today with gusto - Dale Cernegie
To flambe is to cook with alcohol and this french technique , is often seen at many table side presentations for liqueur drenched dishes , where the dish is set a-flame to see a beautiful blue tinged flare up . By burning off the alcohol, flambéing reduces the alcoholic content of the dish , while keeping the flavors of the liquor and the fruit intact . For a fruit flambe , you can use any fruit you like , but I personally prefer working with berries , apple's , banana's and orange's as the best options . This is a super easy peasy dessert which i have put together here with fresh Pineapple , some rum and ginger . Take a look !
Easy cant get more yum than this !
Things you will need :
Pineapple , cut into circles
01 tsp finely diced ginger
01 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp sugar
01 tbsp dark rum
01 Basil Leaf
Vanilla Ice-cream
Steps to Follow
In a pan , add the butter and allow it to burn till dark brown .
Dust the pineapple slices with some sugar and lay them in the butter basted pan - Let it cook on high flame for 01 min and switch sides as caramelized .
Add in the diced ginger.
Now , hold the pan firmly with your right hand and pour in the rum into the hot pan .
Tilt the pan slightly towards the fire , ideally the rum should catch a blue flame .
Remove from gas and let the flames die out
Serve the ginger flambe pineapple with the residual rum - butter sauce .
Pair with vanilla ice-cream and garnish with a basil leaf .
Pro- Tip : Beat the anxiety . Pause - Breathe - Notice how you feel . Take a break from COVID-19 content . Develop a hobby . Make time to sleep , exercise and eat Ice- cream. Reach out and stay connected !
