Golaap Kaanchagolla , for those of you who have a little sweet tooth !

If you are someone whose love affair with the quintessential Bengali 'Mishti' has existed for some time now , then you must definitely try making this melt in the mouth sweet at home. Paired along with a little patience , making this sweet is 'as easy as easy can get' & the results, quite flattering .


I flavored these bite sized Kaanchagollas with some rose essence , as I am a big fan of anything ' rose ' but let me share with you that the choice of the flavor is completely optional. You can practically leave them in their own classic version with just a dash of cardamom powder or flavor these with whatever other essence you choose . I keep making these novel every time by alternating between almond or pineapple essence or even with some chocolate or baileys sometimes to create a new version . Take a look and be as innovative as you would like with the flavor pairing - I am sure this will be one sweet treat you will absolutely adore !

Things you will need :

  • 300 gms of home made paneer or chenna

  • 05 tbsp. of finely powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp rose water

  • 1 tsp rose essence

  • 1 drop of pink food coloring

  • 1 tsp edible rose petals , for decoration

Steps to follow

  • First , using a fine cheese cloth , squeeze out all the water from the chenna.

  • Place the dried chenna on a flat surface and knead it continuously for 4- 5 minutes with your hands , till you get a smooth texture . Next add in the sugar and knead further for another 5 minutes , until the sugar is well incorporated .

  • At this point , add in the rose water , rose essence and the pink food coloring.

  • Next , toss in the mix into a pan and cook it on low flame , stirring continuously for 5-8 minutes , till it begins to feel a little dough like .

  • Once you see that all the moisture evaporated - remove it from heat .

  • Mold the mix into small balls and serve , garnished with edible rose petals

  • Enjoy these bite sized pieces of pure delight :)
