Burgers are not always meant to be wicked and fiendishly loaded - luring you into the sinful world of taste followed by ( read sometimes ) loads of guilt . What if you had a burger which was guilt free , healthy and packed in flavor yet voraciously delicious and comforting .
This my dear friends is just that ....
Made with what happens to be my favorite protein - this burger filling is an absolute winner. It stands true to its taste being high on flavor , low on fat and so perfectly lean such that it can be easily digested . In principal , I have chosen to keep it simple such that it is not too overwhelming but yes , feel free to add any additional layers of cheese , mayo or some creamy mushrooms if you do choose to dress it up . I particularly like to make the juicy chicken inside sing - which when slow-cooked shreds easily to bits and is an absolute melt in the mouth . Besides this , the version is simply layered with some crunchy lettuce , a sunny side and loads of caramelized onion and quite really , nothing fancy .
I don’t want to raise a banter but honestly , these burgers are lip smackingly good - do try them out this weekend and you’ll believe as I say :)
Things you will need ( Makes 02 burgers )
For the filling
02 pieces of chicken breast
01 onion , finely chopped
01 inch ginger , finely chopped
04 cloves of garlic , finely chopped
03 tsp schezwan chilli sauce
02 tsp soya sauce
04 tsp peanut sauce
01 tsp tomato ketchup
Salt and pepper to taste
01 tsp oil
To Assemble
02 Burger buns
03 - 04 fresh lettuce leaves
01 fully onion , thinly slices and caramelized in advance with a pinch of sugar
01 sunny side up egg
Steps to follow
In a bowl , marinate the chicken breasts with all the sauces and rest it for 3o minutes .
In a non stick frying pan , heat oil and toss in the chopped onion , garlic , ginger , salt and pepper and sauté this for 5 minutes.
To this , add in the chicken along with the marinade and sauté - allow this to cook for another 4- 5 minutes .
Next , using two forks , pull apart the chicken into shreds and allow everything to cook for another 2 minutes in its own juice . Remove from heat.
To assemble , layer the burger buns with lettuce , egg , caramelized onion and a generous portion of the pulled chicken mix .
Use the burger heads to soak up any residue juices and top it off as the final layer
Enjoy the goodness !
