Sabudana Vada ( Tapioca pearl fritters )

ree

Truth be told , i self stumbled upon this pure veg version of the sabu dana vada . When i say pure vegetarian , i mean jain vegetarian , with absolutely no fuss of adding onion or garlic . You can also read this as a quick sabu dana vada recipe , as i am going to completely skip the traditional steps of chopping onion's and adding boiled potatoes . All this brain wave is amidst me , shuffling between quarantine calls from office , PM snack time and the sudden evening downpour . Trust me , this will be done in flat 15 minutes and cannot get easier on any given day. Take a look !

Things you will need

  • 1/ 2 cup sabu dana

  • 01 tbsp crushed pepper powder ( slightly coarse )

  • 03 tbsp crushed peanuts

  • 03 tbsp Besan or gram flour

  • 01 tsp kasuri methi

  • 02 tbsp coriander leaves , finely chopped

  • 01 small green chilli , finely chopped

  • 01 tsp red - chilli powder

  • 1/2 tsp black salt or as per taste

  • Oil to fry

Steps to Follow

  • Soak the Sabu dana in very little water for 5 mins - Once fluffed up , drain the water out completely and add to the mixing bowl .

  • Next , add in all the other remaining ingredients into the sabu and mash well , incorporating everything together , like you would generally do to make any pakoda. Note - do not add any extra water at this point , as the moisture from the soaked sabu dana will be sufficient to incorporate everything together . The end result needs to be a semi - sticky sabu dana mix .

  • Heat oil in a kadai .

  • Make small flat balls of the sabu dana mix and deep fry them in oil , till light golden brown .

  • Serve with imli ki chutney and adrak ki chai - Enjoy !
