ree

I call this Lamb burger Suzi Q and I can bet , once you have made this at home , you will never ever order in a burger from outside . Besides , i have simplified the steps and hence it is something you must try . It is also an awesome mid - week treat and thus , fits perfectly in our weekday quick fix ideas . Just one tip - grill the meat only when you are ready to eat !

Things you will need ( Makes a burger for 02 )

For the Burger patty

  • 400 gms of minced lamb meat

  • 01 large onion , finely chopped

  • 01 tbsp of ginger , finely chopped

  • 01 tbsp garlic powder

  • 01/2 tsp star aniseed powder

  • Salt and Pepper

  • 01 green chilli paste

For assembling the Burger

  • 02 Burger Buns

  • 01 tbsp soft butter

  • 02 eggs for the sunny side

  • Caramel Onions : 02 large onion , sliced super thin + 01 tsp sugar + 01 tsp butter

  • 01 handful of lettuce and thinly sliced tomato

  • 02 slices of cheese

For the Tzatziki

  • 01 cup red cabbage - sliced super thin

  • 1 ½ cups plain Greek yogurt

  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint and/or dill

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 medium clove garlic, pressed or minced

  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt

Steps to Follow

  • Make the Tzatziki - Mix all the ingredients for the Tzatziki ( except salt ) and keep aside .

  • Using the ingredients in the For the patty section mentioned above ,marinate the lamb mince and keep it for 15 mins to soak in the flavors of the spices .

  • Make 02 patties out of the mince and keep aside - Make sure you make the patties slightly larger than the size of your bun , as the meat will shrink as it cooks .

  • Heat another pan and add 01 tsp butter along with the 02 thinly super sliced onions and the sugar. Allow this to caramalise and keep aside . This is your caramelized onion topping .

  • Make 02 sunny side up eggs in the same pan and keep aside .

  • When you are ready to eat , heat the grill pan .

  • Place the patties to cook on low flame for about 30 mins , switching sides after the 15 mins mark. You can adjust the cooking as per your preference of doneness - We like ours well done.

  • Assemble the full burger in the following order - On the buttered bun , place lettuce leaves followed by Cheese slice , the Meat Patty , fried egg and caramelized onion .

  • Season the previously prepared Tzatziki with salt and serve with your beautiful burger :)
